National Restoration Party (NAREP) Members that resigned from their party last Friday have joined the United Party for National Development (UPND).

The three are Mike Muyawala former, National Secretary, Proby Chama former National Mobilisation Chairman and Chilufya Luchembe former Spokesperson to NAREP President Elias Chipimo junior.

In announcing their defection to UPND, two of the present said the UPND is the only formidable party to reckon with for any well meaning Zambian.

Mr. Luchembe noted that as opposed to assertions by some people, the UPND is an all encompassing political party that knew no tribe inclination.

“We hold nothing against President Elias Chipimo, National Management Committee, and the NAREP family but we have done this out of principle. If it was money, we would have gone to the PF, but because we are principled enough, we have come to join UPND.

We have joined the UPND to liberate Zambia socially and economically, nothing personal,” Mr. Luchembe said.

The former Spokesperson of NAREP President wondered why certain tribes feel more superior to others.

“We are all equal in the eyes of God, and certain positions like president should not be left for certain tribes. We have to stop that, that’s why we have come to join the UPND.” Mr. Luchembe noted.

And Mr. Muyawala noted that they joined the opposition UPND so as to have a stronger opposition and consolidate the offering of checks and balances on the party in power.
Others that joined the UPND included former MMD Private secretary Augustine Chapita.
